‘SOLSTICE – standing still’
21 June to 30 July 2017
The winter solstice, the rebirth of the sun, is an important turning point, as it marks the shortest day, when the hours of daylight are at their least. One ancient definition of solstice is “standing still sun.” In a mad whirlwind, half of 2017 has passed. The show acknowledges the halfway mark of 2017 – become present, be now, observe, become still, wonder, breath………
SOLO EXHIBITION | Kelly John Gough
‘Grain of Hope’
23 September to 25 October 2017
Kelly explores the changed role of fine art at the beginning of the 21st century. Where visual arts had to create awareness and provoke critical thought during the 20th century, our senses are being raped by a merciless stream of information through mass media at present. People turn to the arts, specifically to the visual arts for aesthetics, relief and hope.
